Dr Gerald (Joe) Power

Dr. Gerald Power was born and grew up in Zambia, was trained at the University of the Witwatersrand in Johannesburg, South Africa and holds anaesthetic fellowships from South Africa, Ireland and Australia.

His special interest is cardiac anaesthetics and medical perfusion (operating the heart lung machine) but also practices in a wide range of anaesthetic areas that include ENT surgery, Hepatobiliary surgery and Urology.

Dr Power previously held a position as the Director of Cardiac Anaesthesia at the Princess Alexandra Hospital and was also the President of the the Australasian Society of Medical Perfusion.  He currently holds the position as the Director of the Melbourne University Medical Perfusion Certificate.

His hobbies include birdwatching, hiking, running and gardening.
