Dr Gareth Ansell completed medical school and anaesthetic training in New Zealand. He undertook fellowships at Fiona Stanley Hospital and The King Edward Memorial Hospital for Women in Perth. Dr Ansell has been a Staff anaesthetist at Mater Brisbane since 2018 as well as holding VMO appointments at all major hospitals in Brisbane.
Dr Ansell performs anaesthesia for a wide variety of procedures and is particularly interested in anaesthesia for major procedures and regional anaesthesia. He has expertise in patient blood management, having presented and published research on blood management, biomarkers and point of care testing.
Outside of work Dr Ansell is married with two young children and enjoys cooking, sports and travel.
