Matt attended the University of Queensland, completing bachelors in Pharmacy (2007) and Medicine (2012). He commenced anaesthetic training in 2018, working across Townsville University Hopsital and Royal Darwin Hospital. After completeing a provisional fellow year at the Royal Brisbane & Women's Hospital in Quality & Safety, Matt obtained his anaesthetist qualification in 2023. During this time, Matt also completed a post-graduate diploma in perioperative medicine and echocardiogarphy. He began private practice upon joining Wesley Anaesthesia & Pain Management in 2024, and continues to also work publically at Ipswich Hospital.

Matt's professional interests include regional anaesthesia, point of care ultrasound, critical care equipment, trainee teaching, supervision clinical aduits, and antimicrobial stewardship. Furthermore, Matt is a duputy supervisor of training for the rural generalist anaesthesia program at Ipswich Hosptial, and an Advanced Life Support Level 2 instructor for the Australain Resuscitation Council. Outside of anaesthesia, mattt values spending quality time with his family and friends.
