Dr Adam Keys
Dr Adam Keys is a specialist paediatric and adult anaesthetist, who works as a staff specialist at Queensland Children’s Hospital as well as in private practice throughout Brisbane.
Dr Keys grew up in Dalby before moving to James Cook University for Medical School where he graduated at the top of his class in 2010. Dr Keys completed his house officer and anaesthetic registrar years throughout Brisbane and the greater region and became a specialist anaesthetist (FANZCA) in 2018.
Dr Keys has undergone extensive subspecialisation in paediatric anaesthesia having completed fellowships at Queensland Children’s Hospital Brisbane, Royal Children’s Hospital Melbourne, and Great Ormond Street Hospital London. During these fellowships, Dr Keys also gained experience in paediatric cardiac anaesthesia, intensive care, and retrieval medicine. Dr Keys also completed a fellowship at Princess Alexandra Hospital to expand his specialist skills in anaesthesia for complex adult surgery and established an interest in anaesthesia for major ENT and airway surgery.
Dr Keys is extensively involved in training at the Queensland Children’s Hospital and holds an academic appointment at the University of Queensland as a Senior Lecturer. Dr Keys also has an interest in research, quality improvement and trainee welfare. Dr Keys takes an empathetic approach to caring for patients and their families with a focus on listening to and acting on their concerns to deliver personalised care.
Outside of work, Dr Keys enjoys spending time with his wife, three children and cocker-spaniel. In his spare time, Dr Keys also enjoys music, cooking and gardening.
